The 'Terry Newport' Rooms
(The New Rooms to anyone my age)

Drinks will be served prior to dinner in the Terry Newport rooms.  Those of my generation who went to Magdalen will remember the unflappable SCR butler whose name now adorns this beautiful medieval suite.  

It is nice to see Terry displacing the likes of Betjeman, King Edward VIII, Bernard Woolley and Bertie Wooster who, apparently, do not warrant an eponymous set of rooms....

Has Magdalen food improved since I was an undergraduate?  Let's find out!!  I really hope so...

Starter:    Duck Parfait with Red Onion Chutney, Mixed Leaves and Crisp Breads 

Main:     Loin of Venison, Wild Mushroom and Truffle Rosti, Artichoke Crisps, Red Wine Jus 

Selection of Vegetables 

Pan Fried Gnocchi with Spinach and Tomato topped with Lemon Chilli Pangrattato  (VEGETARIAN/VEGAN)

Pudding:  Poached Pears in Red Wine with Clotted Cream

Those of you who don't need to rush back home are very welcome to join us in the Marlborough Rooms, the Cosy Club, 20 Cornmarket Street, from 2200h until Midnight where an after dinner stiffener, coffee, cheese, cake and fruit will be served.
